A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO MMFC

Although Maidstone has been the focus for model aircraft flying for many decades - the present club was formed in 1966 and the membership now exceeds 100 flyers. The club promotes the building and flying of radio control aircraft including helicopters, gliders, and jets in a safe and friendly environment. Members enjoy the use of a number of flying sites near the town from which to operate their aircraft. The club is run democratically with a committee being elected by members to manage day-to-day affairs including the safe operation of flying sites.

Maidstone Model Flying Club is fully affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) so members have access to the wider benefits provided by the BMFA. Flying is the priority throughout the year but evening meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month between October and April when flyers can get together to discuss flying topics in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The club membership includes many prominent and experienced flyers who, for many years have contributed to the sport of model flying both at a local and national level. In addition many members give up a huge amount of their time to help and train new flyers, maintain flying sites, serve on the committee and help out where required to ensure the smooth operation of the club.

As always, please remember that safe flying is no accident.
